Tanzania is located on the east coast of Africa
- It is a large country with a large population
- Swahili is widely spoken in Africa, the East, but down as far as southern Congo (though I have been assured, the accents and vocabulary vary a lot, the further you travel.. Everyone claiming to have the correct version of Swahili!)
- In Tanzania it is the official language, and government documents, signs etc are always translated in Swahili.
- The language is simple to learn and quite enjoyable.
- Many people do however speak or at least understand English, especially the youth, and especially in the capital.
- It incorporates many Arabic words, due to Arab traders' influence.
- The city is huge, and quite developed.
- It has a lot of construction going on.
- We do have an affiliated group of local churches in a remote part of the country in the north, near the Burundi border, in a town called Ngara, led by Pastor Shygotera.
- Pray that God would open the right doors and make clear the right timing, as we plan a church and Bible college plant in the future.
- It has a large minority of secular muslims
- It is strategically located between our established works in East Africa (Uganda & Kenya), and those in Southern Africa (Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe & South Africa)
